It seemed like this day would never come, but the volunteers at Software Niagara are taking a break. DevTrx is going on hiatus until Fall 2017.
We are proud to say that we have held this event for 46 consecutive months. We started four years ago with the goal of creating an event where developers could teach each other about the tips and tricks that make them productive, as well as the technologies that get them excited about going to work in the morning.
We were ambitious. We started small with just a few developers listening to talks about the Friendly Interactive Shell (Fish) and Vagrant/Puppet at Ricky's Big Scoop ice cream parlor in Thorold way back on June 25, 2013. (And yes, the homemade gelato was legendary). We eventually grew into FueldMinds coworking space, and then finally settled into what had been our forever home for the past couple years, Cowork Niagara.
We appreciate the hosts that we have had over the past four years. They have allowed us to host the event on the same night every month and have been gracious hosts to our growing number of guests at each event. The consistency and hospitality was instrumental to our success.
We also want to thank those who have come out and spoke at DevTrx. These events literally could not have happened without you. We have been amazed at the wild things people in Niagara know about, from web development to game development; genetic algorithms to DNA computing. We've seen and heard a lot, but hopefully that's not all.
We look forward to returning in the fall. We're not sure what the future has in store. We may change locations. We may experiment with the format. One thing is sure. We will continue to try our best to create an event that helps us grow as professionals, in an environment where we are all humble enough to learn from one another.
